February 10, 2020
CCWA will host a group of high school students from Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela through a Youth Leadership On Demand Exchange Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program is entitled “Youth Leadership through Multiculturalism and Inclusion” and will take place February 10th – 28th, 2020. We are seeking the following:
- Home hosts who can welcome 1-2 students into their home from February 10th – 28th; and
- 5 U.S. Student Participants to engage with visiting students during their program and serve as local Youth Ambassadors.
For interested hosts: Each student must have their own bed, though they may share a room with a student of the same gender. (Air mattresses are not permitted.) We ask that students be provided breakfast foods and that they be included in family meals in the evening. During the day on weekdays, students will be engaged in educational programming, and transportation and lunches will be provided by CCWA. Students have weekends and most evenings free to spend time with their host families. A home visit and background check must be completed before hosting.
For interested U.S. Student Participants: CCWA is seeking U.S. high school students to join this exchange program in Cleveland. Participants will engage with students from Peru, Ecuador and Venezuela, act as Youth Ambassadors to Cleveland, develop their intercultural competency, and strengthen their leadership skills. Being an alum of a State Department exchange program is not only incredible prestigious but signifies that students have developed soft skills that are increasingly important in a globalizing world.
