CCWA’s Academic WorldQuest Competition

Academic WorldQuest is a national competition in which teams of high school students test their knowledge of international affairs, U.S. foreign policy, and current events. Teams compete over 10 rounds of questioning for the grand prize of representing Northern Ohio in the National Competition held in Washington, D.C. in April.

Our local Northern Ohio competition was held on Thursday, January 17, 2019. The Cleveland Council on World Affairs would like to congratulate and recognize the winners of this year’s Academic WorldQuest competition:

First Place Team: Hathaway Brown 

Second Place Team: Mayfield High School 

Third Place Team: St. Joseph’s Academy 

The first place Hathaway Brown Team with Advisor, Mr. Michael Ciuni, and CCWA’s CEO Ms. Carina Van Vliet

The first place team advances to the National Academic WorldQuest competition to be held in Washington, DC from April 26-27, 2019.  The competition is sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America and participants will enjoy a weekend of national competition activities. The winning team will receive a stipend to defray the cost of hotel and travel expenses.

Documentary songwriting is a powerful vehicle for telling women's stories. It turns difficult experiences into beautiful music, and through collaboration it creates lasting bonds between participants. These real, truthful stories can help connect even more people.
