Three things you need to do when starting your new company

Here at Jetpack Group, we help our clients start and grow the things they care about. Over the last 14 years, we’ve learned a lot about what you really should do, what you might want to avoid, and learned a bunch of good lessons along the way. Here are three things we have found to be super important when starting a new venture:

  1. Write down a mission statement for your company. It doesn’t have to be long, complicated, or “serious” sounding. It will surely change over time. But it’s really helpful, and get you focused. One of our clients — Lively Site — has a mission of helping people keep their websites lively. They provide services that focus on exactly that. This helps them stay focused as they make decisions day in and day out.
  2. Set goals for your first year. Set a one month, quarterly, and yearly goal. Write them on the wall, on a whiteboard, or wherever you’re going to not lose them. They will help you stay focused. You might hit them, you might not. But you certainly won’t if you don’t set them.
  3. Don’t worry about getting it perfect. We have been stuck multiple times when launching new companies over the years trying to get our product or offering just perfect. Eventually we realized how much of a hindrance that is. Don’t worry about getting it perfect right out of the gate. Action breeds results. Inaction breeds, well, nothing.

Now go get started 😀 Shoot us any questions you have in the comments.
